Teddy Bobo Film Club: Series 11 (OPV: Other People’s Viewpoint)

Teddy Bobo Film Club: Think Outside the Screen ™

The Teddy Bobo Film Club will hold its eleventh series of short films + constructive thinking skills, this Friday evening (March 02 2012) in Richmond (Melbourne, Australia).

The Edward de Bono method we’ll be working with this session will “OPV” (Other People’s Viewpoint).

Edward de Bono: Many thinking situations involve other people. What these other people think is just as much part of the situation as the factors, the consequences, the objectives, etc. which one should consider, explore and include in one’s own thinking.

These other people may have a very different viewpoint! Although they are in the same situation, they may look at things quite differently. It is a very important part of thinking to be able to tell how other people are thinking; trying to see things from another person’s viewpoint is what doing an OPV is about.

Teddy Bobo Film Club, Series 7: Friday November 18

Teddy Bobo Film Club: THINK OUTSIDE THE SCREEN ™

The Teddy Bobo Film Club will hold its seventh series of short films + constructive thinking skills, this Friday evening in Richmond (Melbourne, Australia).

The Format

  1. Entertainment: A number of very short (under 3 minutes) films, videos, and film excerpts from vastly different genres are presented.
  2. Film appreciation: After each film is screened, there is a brief period of study and discussion of the film – its background, the purpose it is meant to serve, what makes it distinctive, its production values, any curious observations, appreciation of its art and technology, etc. We call this segment “think inside the screen”.
  3. Thinking skill: Then, bouncing off some aspect of the film, a tightly-focused thinking exercise, led by Coach Prodos, and using the formal lateral thinking and constructive thinking methods developed by Edward de Bono is conducted! This is the think outside the screen™ segment. These exercises are not puzzles. They are not IQ games. They are not “positive thinking”. They’re simple tried and true methods which, as you practice, will improve your constructive & creative thinking skills.

Mail system working again

The mailing system has been fixed and, according to the tests I’ve run so far, seems to be working normally again.

Over the last few days emails from the following sources have been permanently lost.

Please re-send or re-apply, if you have used any of the following:

  • Application for a THINKER TO THINKER(tm) blog
  • Messages sent via any of the forms on any PRODOS project site.
  • Applications to join Celebrate Capitalism(tm) campaign.
  • Applications to join any other PRODOS project or campaign or service.
  • Message board notifications.
  • Notifications from THINKER TO THINKER(tm) blogs – including request for new passwords, etc.
  • Notifications from any PRODOSCOPE.COM mailing lists.
  • Emails sent to any PRODOS project email address other than prodos “at” prodos “dot com”.

As you can see, the losses has been extensive.

The problem seems to have been caused by a mass spam attack which may have included a virus attack, which masqueraded as if coming from the PRODOS server.

This resulted in the PRODOS IP address being temporarily blacklisted/blocked. It has now been unblocked.

Thanks to Davide Villani for his assistance with this issue.

PRODOS Thinking Club: Random Input “PO”

Tonight we’ll be working on “PO: Random Input”.

This is one of the most fun of all the Edward de Bono Methods!

It’s also a thinking tool that needs to be exercised regularly.

As a method it gives you the ability to deliberately
generate new ideas and invent fresh approaches
in practically any circumstance.

Invent a new kind of bicycle wheel.
Invent a new kind of birthday party.
Come up with a new way to resolve border disputes.
Develop a new kind of Church.

As a creative attitude, this use of Po fosters
openess to outside and unexpected stimulus.
